QPR REJECT BID

QPR have been one of the active clubs in the January transfer window with the former Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba being the most high-profile signing.

The defender was brought to the club for a transfer fee of £ 12 million, which has been questioned by many due to his age. The 28-year-old has signed a multi-year contract with QPR, but the manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that the club could have made an instant profit on the player after they received a massive bid from an unnamed Russian club immediately after his arrival.

Redknapp has revealed that he gave the decision-making process to the chairman Tony Fernandes, who then refused to sell the player. The defender has not only been brought from massive transfer fee, but he is also known wages believed to be in the region of £ 100,000 per week. Fernandes has been pumping a lot of money into the club since taking over a few years ago. Under his regime, the club has brought in 28 different players in the last two years.

Despite the massive turnaround of players, QPR still remain in the bottom position of the league. Samba has vast knowledge of playing in the Premier league after he spent four years at Blackburn Rovers before moving to Russia.

“We had an offer for Samba right on the deadline and the chairman turned it down. We had an offer of more money than what we paid for Samba. The chairman asked me ‘what do you think?’ and I said ‘it is up to you, it is your club, it is your decision’. I left it to the chairman. He came back and said he had turned it down and said ‘get on with it’. The player probably spoke to the chairman but it was really important we kept him,” said Redknapp.
