Rio Ferdinand wished his brother a happy birthday

Reading’s Anton Ferdinand reached the age of 31 back on February 18 and his brother Rio Ferdinand wished him a happy birthday by posting a childhood picture of them.

Anton Ferdinand is reaching the point in time when it’s time to start considering whether or not to hang up his boots. Rio Ferdinand left the world of playing competitive football at the age of 35 and even though both of the brothers are widely known for their respective playing careers, the path that each player has taken has been significantly different.

Rio Ferdinand managed to stand out more than his brother as Rio performed in Manchester United for 12 years where he was able to lift huge pieces of silverware and even became the captain of the Premier League meanwhile Anton Ferdinand has not really had such a prolific career as he was only able to perform in lower tier clubs with not any significantly big trophy, at least compared to what his brother accomplished. Anton just wasn’t at the level that was needed to compete in the higher echelon of clubs.

The 31 year old player is currently performing for Reading but his time in the English club has not been the most memorable as he was ruled out for a few months due to injury but Anton Ferdinand is happy to be fit as he overcame his injury struggles and said: “It was embarrassing.

Turning up to games every week with people asking me are you going to be fit next week?
“Having come with a reputation of someone who had played in the Premier League and knowing what I could bring to the squad but not being able to do it, it was horrible for me. So for people to now see what I can bring to the squad is good. I’m delighted just to be playing,” he said. “Last season was a grim season for me. Something that I’ve never experienced before.
