Antonio Valencia play against Gunner made him lose place in Team
Antonio Valencia’s reckless play versus the Gunners last evening cost his team a place in the Round of 4 of FA Cup.
Valencia’s mistake was the reason why Arsenal managed to score both the goals.
Valencia was in the Manchester United’s line up as a holding playmaker and a lot better was expected from him at that position.
He did not seem to be at it at any point of time and was absolutely put to sword by the analysts later on for his performance.
None of the criticism was invalid. Valencia deserved every bit of what he got.
The Ecuador International has turned out to be an extremely frustrating prospect for United over the recent past. His energy level has been questioned before as well.
Valencia is hurting though after that Arsenal loss and he took to a social networking site earlier today to express his grief and put forward his apology to the supporters of the Red Devils.
Valencia’s post on that site read, “I am conveying my apologies to all the people out there who were in support of Manchester United yesterday.”
Thereafter, Valencia posted another message in which a few of his teammates were tagged.
That message was, “Guys, let’s keep doing the hard yards. Every day is a new day.”
However, despite this apology and all, Valencia might not be able to save his place as defender in the United starting XI.
In the next game, he might have to make space for Rafael who has been pretty impressive with the Red Devils’ junior team in the last couple of weeks.
Manchester United is no. 4 for the time being in first division table in England with about 2 and half months of Football to still go on in the season.
They have a real chance to finish at 3 overtaking Arsenal.
