BROWN HAILS PLAYERS AS FERDINAND RETURNS

Phil Brown took did not hesitate to take to the media to hail his players after their match with MK Dons.

With Southend’s brutal 3-o win over MK Don, Brown has urged his players to keep on smiling. Goals from Anthony Wordsworth, who drove home a brace and a single goal from Simon Cox was enough to ensure that all three points from the game were secured by the Shrimpers.

Brown is really of the opinion that his players’ positivity was the underlying reason behind their emphatic win over MK Dons. The 57-year old coach had this to say after the match,
“I’ve got a smile on my face again and I think that’s really important.I blame myself when things don’t go right and I had been looking at what I could do better when we had some bad results.”

“I had a think about things and ever since then I’ve been making sure I’ve got a smile on my face because I’ve probably been bringing a lot of doom and gloom to the changing room. We need to be positive and it’s the same with how we’re playing now too.”

The Shrimpers have received a boost with the arrival of some of their top players such as Nile Ranger, Anton Ferdinand and Simon Cox. However, it would take some time for them to up their fitness levels.

With Ferdinand’s return to the squad, he will be handling the captaincy position of the team while co-players, Jason Williams and Luke O’Neill might have to stay in the reserve for a few games.

Before this win, Southend had drawn 1-1 in a game at Bradford City and a 1-0 victory at home to Chesterfield. They have thus climbed higher up the League One table.
