Ferdinand on England’s chances

Anton Ferdinand believes that England can have a great World Cup in Russia but he does not believe that they will be able to win the tournament. He said that although the team has some great players they lack the experience and leadership to win such a tournament.

The former West Ham academy player said that there are teams such as Germany, France, and Brazil who are stronger than them and that the England national team will struggle when facing such oppositions.

However, he admitted that you never know in football and things can be quite different at the World Cup. He believes players such as Kane would want to prove to the world that they can compete among the best and that this can be the secret weapon that will allow the England national team to perform against the best sides.

Anton Ferdinand said that the national team has shown some good signs during the qualifying campaign as well as the friendly games but they will need to confirm this in real competition. He said that playing at a major tournament is different from a friendly game and that the players should be ready for it if they want to win the competition.

He said that Gareth Southgate has been a shrewd coach and he believes that he knows what he is doing. He said that he has talked with some of the players and that there is a good spirit within the team. He said that the players are ready for it and will want to prove to the world that England can challenge in a top competition.

He said that their last triumph in a World Cup dates back to 1966 and that the players are ready to give their best to bring the trophy to England.
